2024 Congping Global Developers Conference (CPDC) Runner-up Interview

In our previous report, we interviewed the champion of this year’s CPDC Global Developer Conference, gaining insights into his performance during the competition and his experience using the CPComm library.

This time, we turn our attention to the runner-up, Artem, from Russia. An experienced developer, Artem also showcased his exceptional programming skills and proficiency with the CPComm library in this competition.

Let’s listen to how he prepared for the competition, his experience with the CPComm library, and his thoughts on his trip to China. The following is the transcript of the interview with Artem.

01 Self-Introduction

Hello everyone, I’m Artem from Russia! For the past seven years, I’ve been developing technological solutions in the agricultural sector. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing or using a metal detector to dig for things. On weekends, I often go on road trips with friends. Five years ago, I bought an old Italian car that is 41 years old, and I dream of restoring it to perfection. I also dream of building a cheese factory on my farm, where I would have cows, goats, horses, and more. Additionally, I’m learning English and hope to travel the world in the future. I enjoy growing plants indoors. I’ve grown an orange tree that now bears fruit, which I use to make a very good liqueur.

02 CPDC Runner-Up Interview

Q1: How did you prepare for the CPDC 2024 Programming Competition?

When I found out I was going to China for the competition, I started dedicating two to three hours a day to preparation. I learned that the competition would require the use of CANbus and serial ports. Fortunately, I have some experience working with both, so I just needed to figure out how the CP Device software library was implemented.

Q2: Did you refer to the information on the CPDEVICE website before the competition? Did it help you in forming your programming strategy and approach?

Yes, I did refer to the information on the website and checked my work during preparation. I was lucky to have a colleague who is very knowledgeable about the physical layer of CANbus, and we studied how data is exchanged between devices through CANbus. During the competition, I encountered some challenges, but I eventually managed to overcome them. I also wanted to implement an algorithm to continue transmitting images when the connection was lost, but unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time. Overall, I enjoyed the tasks in the competition, as they not only showcased my skills but also brought about a sense of innovation.

Q3: What do you think was the key to your success in this competition?

In competitions like this, the key is to stay calm and avoid getting pressured by time. Quickly complete what you can, then identify the challenges and never give up. I realized that while some participants had extensive knowledge in development, they lacked the specific research needed, preventing them from fully showcasing their skills.

Q4: If you had the chance to compete again, what would you do to win the championship?

It all depends on how well you prepare. The more we use CP devices in the future, the more experience we’ll gain with the CP library. In fact, I hope other members of our company will participate in the competition. We have developers on our team who are ready to compete for first place.

Q5: During the competition, you used the CPComm tool. How was your experience with it? Did it help you increase efficiency and focus more on the programming itself?

Overall, we really liked the CP library, documentation, and code examples. It’s clear that CP is simplifying the development process for themselves and developers alike. CP has done a great job providing developers with a great tool. Although we encountered some minor issues during preparation, we believe these will be addressed in the future.

Q6: How was your experience in China? Do you plan to visit China again in the future? What places would you like to explore next time?

I loved everything about China. It’s very clean, beautiful, and modern. The only thing I didn’t like was the hot and humid climate, but I believe I can get used to it. I noticed that there are many cultural differences between Russia and China, which makes it interesting to explore. If I’m fortunate enough to visit China again, I’d like to go to a place far from the city center, where there are no skyscrapers or busy streets—just ancient landmarks and beautiful natural scenery. I especially want to visit the Shaolin Temple monks.

Conclusion

At this year’s CPDC Global Developer Conference, runner-up Artem shared his valuable experiences and insights, giving us a deeper understanding of this programming event. Artem’s success not only came from his superb skills and meticulous preparation but also from his effective use of the CPComm library. As a powerful tool, CPComm significantly enhanced his development efficiency, allowing him to focus more on innovation and business solutions.

Through this interview, we not only witnessed technological progress but also felt the enthusiasm and cooperative spirit of global developers. We look forward to seeing Artem and other participants bring more exciting performances in future competitions. We also hope that the CPComm library will continue to support developers and drive continuous technological advancement.
